Yes, they are for the most part really confused about what is involved in learning Internet web design and the first questions that pop into their minds are ..

Where do I even begin to get started in designing web sites?

Education - Do I need to go to a two or four year college to learn website design?

Are there tech schools who teach Internet web design?

I work a full-time job - Can I learn these skills from home in my spare time?

There are more but these are the basic inquiries I hear and; there are many different responses to each. Let's examine them..

Beginning - Make a goal

At the start, take the time to understand the word "why" - Why do I want to learn Internet web design? Is it to create a small business or personal website for myself? Do I want to become a certified webmaster to design Internet sites for others? The reason is yours and yours alone but you need to address these questions.

Schools and colleges

Yes, there are many ways to learn beginner Internet web design from enrolling in a formal university, taking classes from a local tech or community college, or through distance learning from classes you buy online. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

Our lessons

If you concur to follow the third route, our tutorials along with Shelley's Internet web design course from home is certainly worth your consideration. These can be found online and are very useful for those in a hurry.

What is an auto-generator?
Basically, it is a device, found freely online, that will allow you to type plain text into a box, click a button, and presto!, you've created a web page in hypertext markup language for the Internet.

You can use the genarator to include special features like a pink background or maybe words in italic, etc. so the form does the code work for you.

When you are done "writing" your code, you can take a look at the appearance and then save. It's really pretty simple to use.

Some basic uses for automatic HTML generators
Although there are others, some uses for the online form is to generate HTML code for newsgroups, blogs, forums, and just about anywhere else you want to make a professional looking post with features imbedded.

You can even use the code generated to place in an e-zine so that readers can see a customized page within their email. Does this get your imagination going?

What it will not do ...
There are some functions an automatic HTML generator cannot accomplish. It doesn't create a side bar (menu) for your website to help visitors with navigation. But, there is still hope for you, even if you are a beginner!

You can get a full web design course for beginning students online and learn HTML language while still using an automatic generator for quick code writing. Have fun with your new web design skills!

Should You Consider Designing a One Page Website?

In this article by Stacey Morris you'll learn the pros and cons of desiging a one page website. Find out if this is the road you should take..

There's a lot of talk in the infopreneur world about the difference between a website with a dozen pages or more and a one page website geared toward selling a particular product. I'll be discussing the pros and cons of each type of site, and hopefully clarifying some of the current issues.

Portal Websites for Service Professionals

Most professionals I speak with have sites that talk about their services, how they help their clients, and the results they produce. Some of the better sites I've seen have articles, information, and audio-content free for visitors to download.

The goal of these multipage sites is, theoretically, to begin developing a relationship with the visitor. But rarely does this happen. Usually visitors look around and click away, forgetting all about you. That's not the worst-case scenario, of course, because at least your site was seen.

Worse than that, and far more common, is never being found at all.Usually sites fail because visitors don t know what to do next. The content is good enough, but there's no clear action.

Visitors who are only given the option to call for a complimentary consultation generally choose to leave rather than commit to a personal call.

Read ... Should You Consider Designing a One Page Website?

Announcing New Webmaster Course Homepage Design

Just want to let you know I've done a little "remodeling" on the Webamaster Course homepage to make browsing a little easier and to give it more POW! This statement is made by many who are intimidated by the idea of designing and promoting a website but you will be way ahead of the game when you read this report even if you plan to hire a webmaster to create your Internet presence.

Be sure to follow these simple steps before creating your first website

What's in a Domain Name?

To find a name for your new website just visit any Internet Hosting Company to search the availability of domain names. This is the www.yourname.com consumers will type in to find your Internet business online and it only belongs to you. Domain names normally end in .com, .net, .org, etc. and are now available in many other forms depending upon your company's operation structure.

Example: www.parduephotos.com

When you are choosing your domain name make sure it is ...
Not too long - Domain names with too many letters are difficult to type and are easily susceptible to errors.

Read Learn to Design and Promote Your First Website

Your Web Design and Browsers

Creating your own website is a great accomplishment. You want the world to see what you've designed.

But wait - did you stop to think about what your site might look like on other browsers?
Perhaps you designed your website while previewing the design with the Netscape (or the latest Firefox) browser. But, did you think to preview your site in other popular browsers such as IE or Opera?

Popular Web Browsers

*Internet Explorer (IE): Microsoft's Web browser - the most popular today. It was released in 1995 and surpassed Netscape in popularity in 1998.

*Netscape: This was the first commercial Web browser, released in 1994.

*Firefox: A new browser that was released in place of Netscape following the Netscape 7.2 version. It is based on Mozilla and is the second most popular Web browser on the WWW.

*Opera: A Norwegian Web browser used for small devices such as Palm Pilot computers or cell phones with online access.

How do Web Browsers Work?

When you design your web pages, you'll use a programming language or special program such as HTML, XTML, PHP, FLASH, MYSQL, or some other technique.

Web browsers will look at your web page codes and translate them into readable, pleasant-looking pages for the end user. Instead of "jibberish" your visitors should see a well-designed web page.

If all they see is the code, you can forget selling anything or getting your point across!

Read Your Web Design and Browsers

3 case studies on using color for organization

Today's feature article shows you 3 case studies of popular websites and how they use colors to enhance their design. Learn how color can affect the look and readability of your own website. Read the feature article below to learn more.

One of the aspects of web design that fascinates me the most is color. Color is a very useful tool that can be used with powerful effects in a website. It's particularly useful in organizing elements effectively and in creating well-designed page layouts.
Since examples always help make general principles more tangible, let's take a look at three different examples of how color usage affects page organization.

1. WEBEX - (http://www.webex.com)

Most of Webex's home page is filled up with color of some sort. In fact, the only parts of the design that reside on a white background are the header and the bottom right corner. Generally, when everything is colored, it makes it hard to use color effectively for organizational purposes. But Webex has done a pretty good job. From a purely graphical standpoint, the use of color in this page is effective. Let's examine why it works:

The horizontal blue bar at the top provides good definition to separate the logo and tagline from the main content of the page. Besides providing a backdrop for the main navigation buttons, the clean lines of this bar provide a nice, colorful frame for the site.

The center of the page is clearly divided by background colors into two separate sections. The grey background behind the links on the right clearly defines the area and groups that set of five links together nicely.

Read 3 case studies on using color for organization

HTML Tags Complete Reference - Part 4

This report is about learning HTML tags and is a continuation of the first three web design parts. I hope you'll continue to learn about becoming a webmaster.

Today, let's take a look at more HTML tags examples and how they fit into your code. Your web page is put together like a puzzle. It contains many different types of information - all with a different tag to command how it will look.

Learning HTML Tags by Example

I've learned that the best way to understand coding as a beginner is by example. I like to see the end result first, then look at the code to find out how it was created. This helps to understand what the codes mean when I see them. Below you'll go to a sample page and view several different features on a web page, all commanded by HTML tags.

Then, at the bottom of the page, you'll see the entire code for the features on the page.

As you can see, tables and other features on a web page should be thought out before you start designing. If working with HTML directly, you should lay out your page on paper and then be sure each feature can be matched to an HTML tag.

Now that you know the basics of how HTML tags work, you're ready to start testing some HTML tags of your own. For an extensive list of HTML tags and related resources, go here:

Read the report>>>> HTML Tags Complete Reference - Part 4

HTML Tags Complete Reference - Part 2

You'll find in this report part 2 of the HTML tags tutorial and I hope it will help in your web design venture. Be sure to read part 1 too!

From beginning to end, the very structure of an HTML web page is made up of HTML tags. Here are the foundational HTML tags and the functions of each.

The good news is you don't have to know everything there is to know about HTML tags to design your website. You can actually get started with your own website by just knowing the basics! So, relax as you learn and don't worry about trying to absorb too much at once.

Read the web design tutorial >>> HTML Tags Complete Reference - Part 2

HTML Tags Complete Reference - Part 3

This section presents part 3 of the series about HTML tags and I hope you will find it useful as a web design tool.

In this lesson, we'll take a look at some popular HTML tags and attributes you can use within the "body" tags of your web page. Tags+attributes help to define how your page will look on the Web. From the color, size and alignment of your text to how and where your images or photos will appear, there's an HTML tag or attribute for just about every design function.Attributes for HTML Tags

First, let's learn about attributes. Attributes are the commands used to amplify, or enhance, HTML tags. They are interpreted by the Web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, or other) and define how an HTML tag will work.

With attributes, you can define the width of your web page or your main table, or you can define what color the links will be throughout your page or what type of background your web page will have. There are attributes for your main body HTML tags and then there are attributes that can be used with just about any HTML tag.

Read >>> HTML Tags Complete Reference - Part 3

HTML Tags Complete Reference

This article covers part one of a complete reference to HTML tags and I hope you will find it useful if you are a beginning webmaster.

In this "HTML Tags Complete Reference" you'll learn all about HTML tags, their definition, how they work, and more. HTML tags are the foundation of the Web language. In early Web days, HTML tags were used to build almost every website.

In recent years, however, more languages have come on the scene, giving Web users a variety of choices in how they design their website. These alternatives to using just raw HTML tags include PHP, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), XML, DHTML, Flash Macromedia, Javascript, etc.

With so many possibilities, HTML beginners can easily get confused when trying to learn web design. Learning about HTML tags will certainly help you understand the other languages because it is the foundation. Once you learn basic HTML and how the tags work, it will be easier to move on to other applications.

Read HTML Tags Complete Reference

Create Your Web Page: A Quick Guide for Beginners

This is a quick way you can create your own web page even if you are a beginner. These tips will be invaluable if you are just starting out and I hope the report will get you on your way to becoming a webmaster.

If you want to create your own web page but are not sure where to begin, the steps below will help. It's easy to create your own web page once you understand the basics. You might not become a "master-mind" web programmer, but you can still create a website on your own that functions properly. You can even sell products or services from your web page. It's easier than you think!

Step 1: Basic HTML

Take a few beginner courses about basic HTML before you begin to create your own web page. Even if you use a free "What You See is What You Get" program such as Netscape Composer or NVU, you will still benefit tremendously from knowing a little about HTML. The WYSIWYG program will convert your design into HTML for you, but there will come a time when you will need a working knowledge of HTML to add codes or forms, or to make minor changes to your web page.

Step 2: WYSIWYG Course

Once you get a foundational knowledge of HTML, take a beginner's course designed specifically for the web design program you choose. This will help you learn how to put it all together on a web page so it will flow. You'll be able to create your own web page to get the look and feel you want for your website.

Read Create Your Web Page: A Quick Guide for Beginners

Web Design Editor | HTML Programs - A Quick Beginner's Guide

This report will help you in using a web design editor or HTML program to create your web pages, especially if you are a complete beginner in web design.

If you're a complete beginner when it comes to using a web design editor HTML program, you're probably wondering how you will survive the "basics" of HTML, and then how you will move forward to more complicated programming languages.

Fortunately, there are some great software programs to make life easier for the beginning or more savvy web designer.

Though none seem to be perfect, web design editors for HTML have come a long way since the early Internet days!
